Journey from a back-bencher to IIT Dhanbad

After completing my 10th std, I took admission in a school integrated program of Bansal Classes. I had a dream. The dream was to crack JEE, make my family proud by becoming an IITian. Study materials, faculty and everything was at par with the JEE prep at Bansals but unfortunately I just got off the track and lost my interest in studies and got completely slipped away from the dream of my life:- “CRACKING IIT JEE”. I became a back bencher in the classroom least bothered about any kind of homework or practicing problems.

How to clear JEE in a short time, viz 3-4 months

I was a regular school goer all my 11th and the first two months of my 12th. I was not attending any coaching. I had a enrolled in a test series (FIITJEE I think) and got volumes of material which I would occasionally flip through. A decent performance at school level academics kept me oblivious to the time I was losing. Fast forward 10 months and I was battling it out against all the engineering aspirants of the country in a gruelling 6 hour JEE Advanced test that changed my life. I want to convey through this piece of writing that it is possible to get a decent JEE rank in a short time provided that one is ready to accept the challenge and dedicate his time and efforts. Do bad marks actually mean anything?

In  case you were wondering, bad marks do not mean anything significant, other than the fact that you did not fit into the standardized grading scheme of the examining body. By the way, this fact includes your college grades too. But then, grades are just a quantitative measure of your belief in the system and not a measure of your abilities or talent.  Continue reading Do bad marks actually mean anything?

Should you take a second attempt to crack JEE ?

Should I take a second attempt at the JEE? MANY students after 12th face this dilemma. There’s this feeling that had we been less careless, we could have done better and made everyone proud. And a state of confusion; what if we chose to drop and are not  able to put enough efforts and end up with disappointment even the next year? …I have therefore tried to use my experience to provide a balanced view of the choices you are going to make. Hope it helps! Continue reading Should you take a second attempt to crack JEE ?

We Petition !

We at Prepsera understand the need of the students, especially Indian students. With the toughest exams for us to crack, it kind of gets a bumpy ride in our High School Life.

Not that we should quit working  hard…. it is just that even hard working kids tend to get a lesser recognition than they actually deserve, especially in the competitive exams. These competitive exams are basically one day affairs, and we believe that one day is not enough to gauge the abilities and hard work of a candidate. Hence, we believe that there should be more opportunities of a level akin to the IITs. Continue reading We Petition !

Getting over your taking too much sleep !

I believe a majority of students preparing for exams in which they require to burn the midnight oil, to work hard and with dedication often complain about how their sleep conflicts with their preparation. Some common complaints are like –

“I can’t get up till late at night. I feel sleepy”.
“It’s hard to get up for me. All I want when I see my bed is to sleep and relax”.
“I’ll take a nap of 5 minutes (and then the 5 minutes end up being 1-2 hours)”.
“Today, I should sleep and I will get up early and study(that never happens)”.
“ When I go back from class, I’ll finish so and so chapters( but in reality, they  go to sleep as soon as they return)”.

Do you feel this can be a major factor that you aren’t able to give sufficient hours to study?

In this article, I have therefore summarized subtle points that if followed, could help you control your sleep to some extent. Fact is, nobody can assure you that following so and so things would help you overcome your sleep unless you yourself are not willing to do so. Thus above all the points that I am mentioning here, is your will.

How to Prepare for KVPY-SX (Class 12)

Ask me, and I say… SX is easier than SA,  as far as KVPY is concerned. With a higher selection percentage in SX, it is more likely to get selected in it than in SA. Also, for any person taking JEE coaching (as is a common trend), KVPY  should be a cakewalk. Don’t believe me? So, dirst of all, let us have a look at the paper pattern : Continue reading How to Prepare for KVPY-SX (Class 12)

Why is cheating in exams considered wrong?

As a lesson in moral values, we are taught never to cheat, especially in exams. It leads to people shunning cheaters in many cases. However, this attitude also helps create more cheaters, simply because a lesson not substantiated with clearly visible logic is often viewed by people as a doctrine to violate. So then, why is cheating in exams considered a wrong thing to do?
